We celebrated Eastern Oregon grantmakers on Thursday, May 9th at a full-house event at the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute in Pendleton. Students from Hermiston High School, Nixyáawii Community School, Pendleton High School, Umatilla High School, and Weston-McEwen High School were on deck to share their good news with recipients and community members, granting over $77,000 this year.

"The Grant Awards Ceremonies in May are deeply rewarding. We are able to express our admiration for the organizations that have applied for our funding, as well as being able to see the students from other schools who are also involved in their communities. High school students are the future, so it's crucial for the sake of our communities to demonstrate that we care by educating ourselves on issues and learning how to make positive change through volunteering, fundraising, and grantmaking. Making a positive impact on the lives of others only requires time and care." - Sarahi, Hermiston HS
